March is the beginning of the spring fashion show season in Seattle. I’ve gathered together a preliminary list, but if you know of others, please feel free to add them to the list in the comment section below.
March 8 is the West Seattle Fashion Show sponsored by Designer Labels Consignment Boutique, Clementine Shoes, Smallclothes, Coffee to a Tea with Sugar and Herbal Feast Catering.
The show takes place from 2 to 5 p.m., at The Sanctuary at Admiral. Admission is $10 plus a canned or packaged food donation. The 11th annual Art Institute of Seattle student fashion show, Peace, Love & Fashion, is on March 12 at 5 and 8 p.m., at The Showbox SoDo.
Every aspect of this show has been created and executed by students, and this year, "Project Runway" Season 5 participant and Art Institute graduate Blayne Walsh will be among the judges.
Tickets are $20 in advance through Ticketmaster and $25 at the door. High school students are invited to attend the 5 p.m. show for free with valid student ID. Velouria, Les Amis and Baby & Co. are participating in Twenty Twenty Revue on March 21 at 7 p.m at the Georgetown Ballroom. Proceeds from this “fantastical vaudevillian evening of fashion, music, circus arts, and goodwill” will go to Vitamin Angels.
nonprofit organization that provides micronutrient supplements and antiparasitics to children in need. Vitamin Angels is on a mission to eradicate childhood blindness caused by Vitamin A deficiency by the year 2020. Tickets are available at Brown Paper Tickets.
Silhouettes of Style luncheon and fashion show is happening on April 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bellevue Westin. The event will feature fashion from The Bellevue Collection, which includes Bellevue Square, Bellevue Place and Lincoln Square. A portion of the proceeds will go to the future Performing Arts Center Eastside (PACE), a 2,000-seat performance venue in downtown Bellevue. Tickets are available here.
I don’t have any real information about it, but April 11 is the student show for the New York Fashion Academy (NYFA). I went to this show last year and it was spectacular. I’ll post more info as it comes in. Visit the NYFA Web site to learn more about the school.
Seattle Fashion Week 2009 is April 16 and 17. The show on April 16 is billed as the Independent Designers Fashion Show, with the show on April 17 billed as the Urban Fashion Show. I don’t have more information than that, but will post more as it arrives in my inbox.
April 30 brings Style '09 Look Good, Feel Good, Do Good, a fashion show benefiting Northwest Hope & Healing, a non-profit organization that provides financial assistance and non-medical support services to breast cancer patients. Participating boutiques include Carmilia's, Oslo's, Asher Anson, Bellefleur Lingerie and more. Tickets are available here.
This year's Thaw show is on May 7. This fashion show celebrates small local designers, including Jill Lindsey, Michael Cepress, Carly Orr and Portland designers Kate Towers and Holly Stalder. Proceeds from this event go to Huntington’s disease research. Check the Web site for more information.
