Tony-Awards-2009-fashion-st

Glam Events are perfect for celebrities to show off themselves. And this time many of them had just another opportunity to do that. The American Theatre Wing’s 63rd Annual Antoinette Perry “Tony”® Awards were held at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday, June 7, 2009.

Tony Awards are given annually to theatre professionals for distinguished achievements. The Tony is one of the most awaited awards in the entertainment industry and the annual telecast is considered one of the most prestigious programs on television. This year many actors and actresses were awarded for their contribution to the development of theatre. They did a great job and now it is rewarded. But what we are interested here is not stars’ professional achievements but fashion styles they wore at the event. So, let’s start…

Anna Hathaway looked stunning in a strapless black Oscar de la Renta dress with a feather-print sheer skirt. She finished off her look with red satin peep-toe pumps and simple jewelry. I think this was the best outfit of the evening.
Black color was chosen by many female stars and presented in different styles and designs but all the way it added chic to the garments ladies wore.
Among those who opted for black sophistication were Jane Fonda, Karen Olivo, Martha Plimpton, Stockart Channing, Hope Davis and others.
Jane Fonda’s gown looked wonderful and the belt decorated with a huge buckle emphasized the woman’s waist nicely. Good job, Jane!
Another dress I liked was Karen Olivo’s one. It was long, simple in design, with a deep V-neck demonstrating the girl’s beautiful neck. She completed her look with black suede open-toed shoes and delicate jewelry.
Gina Gershon looked extremely sexy but still elegant in her Zuhair Murad pleated gown. Fred Leighton antique jewelry, and a vintage Judith Leiber silver minuauder complete this look.
Laura Benanti selected a long navy-toned strapless gown. She paired it with a nice silver clutch and a massive necklace. Splendid look!
If we searched for interesting designs Piper Perabo’s gown would be the one. A teal blue X-shaped dress with a low neck matched with silver sandals and laua black clutch looked really unusual.
The gown I didn’t like at all was the one Edie Falco wore. This was a shining dark-blue ruffled gown with a beige hemline. The dress was absolutely horrible!
Josefina Scaglione’s gown was simple, elegant and luxurious, created by Jason Wu. It made the wearer one of the best-dressed ladies. And I loved her eggplant clutch!
Sutton Foster opted for a bright orange empire-waist gown that flattered her much. The same thing I can say about Lauren Graham’s emerald satin dress with a cute black bow.
Marcia Gay Harden wore a tiered emerald green Lanvin strapless mermaid gown which made her look very elegant.
There were a few bright outfits which attracted my attention. For example, a fabulous violet strapless gown donned by Allison Janney. This was something you need to look at! Fantastic!
Alice Ripley was in a electric blue ling dress.
And the last gown I’d like to tell you about is a fuchsia-tinted gown with a cascading ruffled detail worn by Jessica Lange. It was also brilliant and interesting in design.
The list of styles given here is far from being exhaustible. These are just the ones I liked the most or the worst. Hope to see your comments soon!
