Last night's white hot fashion party, StyleAID, kicked off when a dozen buff men wearing white undies dancing down a catwalk to the Village People song In the Navy. StyleAID is an A-list event that raises funds for the WA AIDS Council, and the beautifully dressed crowd were treated to a fashion parade with a dazzling difference.
Organiser Mark Reid, who last night announced this would be the last StyleAID he would direct after 11 years at the helm, said he hoped to raise close to $200,000 from the event. The theme was WOW (white on white) and the night did not disappoint.
Designer Ray Costarella kicked off the parade, showing a feminine and flirty collection direct from the catwalks of Australian Fashion Week. He said this would be the only time a Perth crowd got to see his latest looks.
Labels including ae'lkemi, One Fell Swoop, United Constructions, Paper Sky, Flannel and Ruth Tarvydas showed diverse collections. The hottest models in town, including Pip Bingham, Gemma Bidstrup and Tom Bull, strutted the white catwalk in front of guests including Costarella, Alvin Fernandez, Sylvia Giacci, Sophia Ulgiati, Malcolm Day and Bree Maddox.
The Dance Collective performed a beautiful contemporary number following the fashion parade. Guests lived up to the WOW theme, many wearing white suits or gowns and everyone going all out for the fabulous fashion event. They were treated to a three course dinner, then took over the catwalk as it became a dance floor. Many went on to the after party at A(L)ure at Burswood to party long into the night.
